Spains first event was organised by the Cazalla Intercultural organisation in cooperation with the city council. Only the second Living Library event in London and the interest was massive from the public and foreign media. 26 books made the day a succes and they had almost a hundred readers in five hours. The best seller was the ex-homeless person and the event was staged at White Chapels IDEA Store in London by UK organisers Anne Kilroy, Caroline Presho and Alexander Germanis with the support of Nordic Minister Council and the IDEA Store.

During the 2007 All Different All Equal Campaign by the Council of Europe. The Living Library came alive in Berlin at the Marnzahn-Hellersdorf public Library. The organizers guide which is now also available in german has helped brand the idea "Lebende Bücher" - as in Living Books.

Budapest Street Festival 2005

"Europe - Youth - Human Rights" was the theme for the festival and also the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Council of Europe´s Youth Centre in Budapest, a big promoter and organizer of the Living Library. The outdoor street festival was setup in a beautiful park near the banks of the Donau river and right around the corner from the European Youth Centre in Budapest. The festival included a Living Library that ran for three days and was a very popular attraction. Pictures by Ronni Abergel.

Hosted by the Civil Sziget on the Margit Island. Every year the Council of Europe´s Youth Centre in Budapest, organise a Living Library event which runs for 7-days. The ambience in the festival is amazing and the readers come from many different parts of the world.

The first Living Library organised in Portugal at the Rock in Rio Lisboa festival in the summer of 2004. The Living Library was staged as a one day event and had approximately twenty books available. The event was organised in cooperation with APAV the portugese association for victims for violence.

Staged by the Council of Europe in cooperation with Ronni Abergel. The Living Library at the Sziget festval in Budapest, Hungary, is the largest annual Living Library event in Europe. It takes place every summer in the middle of the Donau river on the island of Margit. The event attracts a lot of attention and has long surpassed a thousand readers in a week. Director of the European Youth Centre in Budapest, Antje Rothemund and her staff are skilled organisers that ensure a framework of high quality for readers.

The first Living Library outside of Denmark. Nordic Minister Council supports its first Living Library as part of "Youth In The Nordic Countries" meeting in Oslo, Norway. The library was a one-day event and took place at a public library and outside on the square. The event was organised by local organisers Albert Fridjestol and Terese Mungai and Ronni Abergel.
